About the Office
About Brenda D. Forman
Brenda D. Forman is the first African American and female to serve as Clerk in Broward County, Florida. She was first elected as Clerk in November 2016, and was sworn into office on January 3, 2017. In August 2020, she was re-elected for a second term, and was sworn into office on January 5, 2021.
Before she was elected as Clerk, Ms. Forman studied at Broward College and Union Institute University.
Prior work experiences include the Broward County Clerk of Courts Office, ChildNet, the State Attorney’s Office and CEO and founder of B Dixon Mortgage Company. In addition, she has also been a licensed real estate agent for seventeen years.
Ms. Forman has been an advocate against domestic violence and Human Trafficking for several years. She is also a member of the FNC (Florida National University) steering committee that works against human trafficking, domestic violence and the exploitation of missing children.
She is also actively involved in a number of community organizations such as the Broward County Bar Association, South Broward Bar Association, Caribbean Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association, Kiwanis Club of Davie/West Hollywood, Broward County Police Chiefs Association, Ft. Lauderdale Black Police Officer Association(FLBPOA), National Council of Negro Women(NCNW), BCCPA Domestic Violence Committee, Tower Forum, South Florida Noble-Black Law Enforcement, South Broward Board of Realtors, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and the Florida League of Cities.
Clerk Forman is honored to serve as the official record-keeper for the Broward County court system. She protects the public trust by performing her statutory and ministerial duties of ensuring that all records are timely and accurately maintained.
Overview of the Clerk's Office
The Office serves 1,224.7 square mile region of South Florida containing a population of over 1.8 million. Mrs. Forman leads an organization of approximately 750 employees. The various Divisions provide support to ninety judges and eleven magistrates, services to the general public, and other government agencies. The core services provided include: filing court proceedings; filing and retrieval of documents such as arrests, traffic citations, affidavits, marriage licenses, probate and other court related documents; collection of court fees; creation of court dockets and notification of participants.

Contact the Clerk’s Fraud Hotline and leave a detailed message of the suspected activity with your contact information at (954) 831-6900. If you wish to remain anonymous when reporting fraud, waste, and abuse, contact the Clerk's Fraud Hotline from an outside number or block your number. The caller, though anonymous, must provide as much detailed and specific information as possible regarding the suspected fraudulent behavior.

Whistleblower Protection Policy
Under the Whistleblower Protection Policy and Sections 112.3187 and 112.3188 of the Florida Statutes, individuals reporting fraud, waste, and abuse will be protected to the fullest extent possible.
Individuals reporting a concern or filing a complaint must be acting in good faith and have reasonable grounds for believing the information disclosed indicates fraud, waste, or abuse.

Operation Green Light Broward is an opportunity to pay your fines without paying the extra 33% collection surcharge. Individuals paying their felony, traffic tickets, misdemeanor and overdue court costs in full may be eligible to restore their driving privileges.
Payments can be made in-person at all Courthouse locations, online, or by mail via U.S. postal service. Payments by mail must be postmarked by April 13, 2024.
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the Central Courthouse will be open for business from 8:00am - 1:00pm.

On August 1, 2023, the Broward County Clerk of Courts became aware of a potential information security issue, which may have allowed certain non-public records on our public website to be accessed without authorization. Upon discovery, we began an internal review and implemented additional security measures.
The Broward County Clerk of Courts has taken the necessary steps to address this issue and is committed to maintaining all information with the utmost care and security. The privacy and protection of information remains a top priority of this office.
Out of an abundance of caution, we engaged a team of information security experts to investigate the matter thoroughly. NOTICE - Change to electronic Circuit Civil summons process

Effective June 17, 2022, at 5:00 pm, filers will no longer have the ability to request the issuance of an electronic summons at the time of efiling a new circuit civil case. Once the case number has been assigned, the electronic summons can be efiled as a supplemental filing. This change will help facilitate an expedited new case filing process.

The Broward County Clerk of the Court’s office is ready, willing, and able to assist citizens who are working to get their voting rights restored.
Although our office does not determine voter eligibility, we can provide citizens with court records and information, including the status of payment for fines, fees, court costs and restitution imposed as part of a sentence. However, our office may not have all the restitution payment information if payments were not paid through the Clerk’s office. The Broward County Clerk of Court maintains court records and information for Broward County cases only.

Contrary to the press release by the Broward Sheriff's Office, the Broward County Clerk of Courts properly distributed official documentation to the required parties under Florida's statutes, administrative rules, or other applicable law. As the official record keeper of court proceedings, the clerk performs ministerial and non-discretionary duties only. In order to release a prisoner from confinement, a directive from the judiciary is required. Eric Alexander Vail, Jr.'s case docket reveals that no judicial directives were filed to release Mr. Vail in the first degree murder case, as explained in the Full Press Release.

Andrews Avenue Bridge Closures

From 05/30/2019 until 03/01/2020, the Andrews Avenue Bridge will have one-lane road closures. Only one southbound and one northbound lane will be open.
From 07/08/2019 until 08/06/2019, the Andrews Avenue Bridge will have a full bridge closure for 30-days, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays. No vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed on the bridge. Detour signs will guide motorists and pedestrians around the bridge.
Important Notice - Foreclosure Electronic Sale Fee Increase

Effective November 1, 2018, the Foreclosure Electronic Sale Fee will be increased from $60.00 to $70.00. Section 7 of Senate Bill 2506 has amended Florida Statute 45.035 (3). The $70.00 service fee for conducting an electronic sale shall be assessed as costs and paid when filing for an electronic sale date. Each time the sale is scheduled or re-scheduled, the Plaintiff is required to pay the $70.00 service fee. The payment can be made via the e-Portal.

U.S. Passport Execution Fee Will Increase in April

Effective April 2, 2018, the U.S. Department of State is increasing the passport execution fee from $25 to $35. The $10 execution fee increase only applies to U.S. passport applicants using the DS-11 form, such as first-time applicants over 16, children under 16, and applicants who re-apply after reporting their previous passport lost or stolen.
The $10 fee increase does not apply to adults eligible to renew their passports by mail using the DS-82 form. Renewal customers can mail their application and supporting documentation directly to the Department of State.

Inaugural Valentine's Day Marriage Ceremony was a success! Love was in the air on February 14, 2018, as 55 couples were married in a ceremony by Clerk of Courts Brenda D. Forman. The event consisted of a single ceremony that united all couples in attendance, including couples renewing their vows.
After the ceremony, couples and their guests celebrated with cake and refreshments and also received a special Certificate of Marriage commemorating the special day.

Passport Public Service Announcement - Grand Opening

Brenda D. Forman, the Broward County Clerk of the Courts, on behalf of the United States Department of State, is pleased to announce the grand opening of a new Passport office on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Broward County Central Courthouse.
Mrs. Forman is providing this new service to the community as a convenience for those visiting the downtown Fort Lauderdale Courthouse who would like to apply for (or renew) a passport. Passport photo services will also be available at this location.
Starting 7:30am, on July 5th, U.S. Citizens may apply for passports on the 1st floor in room 1160, of the Broward County Judicial Complex West Tower, located at 201 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. The new Passport services office will be open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, excluding courthouse holidays.

Domestic Violence filings may now also be filed at the West Regional Courthouse located at 100 N. Pine Island Road, Room 180, Plantation, FL 33324. Hours of Operation for filing at the West Regional Courthouse are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Filings stop at 2:00 p.m. All filings after 2:00 p.m. must be filed at the Broward County Central Courthouse located at 201 SE 6th Street, Room: 248, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 or through the eFiling Portal. Parking will be validated for those filing injunctions for protection (restraining orders) at the Fort Lauderdale Central Courthouse. To obtain validation, you must park in the East parking garage Jury section, located at 540 SE 3rd Avenue.
